How to properly enjoy your time on the beach

Many travelers think that their vacation is the time when they are free to do anything. However, there are always rules to follow as we are social creatures. Respecting the other people and keeping the nature safe is a must during travel. Here are some of etiquette to practice during your vacation on the beach:

Avoid playing in the crowd. Beaches can be a very dense area especially during holiday season. People are mingling around and enjoying their activities such as sunbathing, reading, relaxing, or just enjoying the view. You don’t want to accidently kick someone during your fun time playing volleyball. If you want to play on the beach, choose less dense area so you can safely play and avoid causing problems to others.

Always keep the area clean. It is often that travelers and vacationers alike haphazardly toss their garbage without a care in the world. It makes beach dirty. Also, the trash may contaminate the water. Therefore, it is important to be more aware with trash disposal. Always throw your garbage to the right place. If there is no trash bin, keep your garbage with you until you can throw them in the bin you find later. Remember that many sea turtles have mistaken trash for foods which end up in them dying.

Be more considerate with how you enjoy the sand. It is highly advised to not run around the sand especially when there are many people laying around on it. You may kick the sand into someone’s face. You can take off your footwear and walk around the sand leisurely. Or, you can opt to jog on wet sand near the water line instead.

Do not feed the seagulls that approach you on the beach. You may think it is a noble act. However, you end up endangering their kind because your food is not their natural diet. It can make them sick. Also, feeding them can also result in more birds to flock around the beach. They can have their own foods in the sea so don’t get swayed by their charms.

Follow the local customs with respect. Sometimes, different are applies different rules for when you can enjoy your time on their beach. It include manners or dress code or public behavior. For example, in some areas nudity is not allowed. Or, seaside PDA is frowned-upon in some countries. Hence, always do some research before you hit the sand to ensure you are not going to violating any rules.
