Types of Emotions That Can Emerge Because of Travelling

Travelling is not only a way to seek out fun and thrill but can be a life-changing experience for many people as well. You are provided with many opportunities to explore different places, meet new people, learn different cultures, and develop various skills along the way. It is not surprising that people who travel a lot can slowly build their own character to the better. They become more independent, aware of their surroundings, and confident in general.

Emotions you get to feel related to your trip

Prior, during, or after travel, there are many types of emotions you get to feel. Those can be bad or good depending on how you perceive them. And here are some of the most common emotions you might feel related to your travel experience:

Nervousness. This kind of emotion is usually felt prior the trip. When your D-day is near, you are getting nervous. Your nerves keep on edge the closer you are to the day of the trip. It can be because of many reasons. You are about to leave your family behind. It is even more nerve-wrecking when it is your first travel experience and going solo.

Excitement. This is also common emotion you get to feel related to travel experience. When you plan your trip, you do your own research, where to go, what to find, and what to enjoy. The more you go, the more excited you become. This excitement is great to build up your motivation. You anticipate your travel to be as great as you have imagined. However, make sure that it doesn’t make you think your trip will be 100% perfect because it won’t.

Doubt. It is also common for travelers, especially first-timers to feel doubt. You might feel some nagging feelings telling you that something will go wrong with the trip. When you arrive at the airport, you keep checking your bag afraid there is something you forget to pack. Make sure that this kind of doubt doesn’t turn into panic.

Boredom. It is also possible that you feel bored regardless of how excited you were before the trip. There are many things that trigger boredom such as waiting in long line, long-haul flight, etc. You can fill your boredom by doing something you like such as reading or watching through in-flight entertainment.

Confident. When you arrive at your destination, there is a sense of confidence you get to feel because you are determined to see and enjoy what you have planned. There is a feeling of purpose even though you meet new people with different cultures.

A sense of accomplishment. Usually this kind of emotion is felt during and after the trip. Once you overcome your fear and doubt about the trip, you experience a sense of accomplishment. You feel proud of yourself for being strong and brave. You will also feel it after the trip when you successfully did what you have planned. You feel like you have achieved something from the trip.
