However, there are also travelers that end up disappointed with their trip. One of the reasons is because they expect the trip to be kind of a solution for their problems. However, once they are back at home, the problems still there. In this case, the trip itself is not something to blame on. Basically, travel is not a solution for your problems. It can be a distraction yes. But it is far from being a solution for every problems you face in life. If you have problem or responsibility then you decide to go for a trip. It is like running from your own problems.

Travel never meant to be a problem solution

It is true that travel can be a way to find yourself, find a purpose in life, or find new perspective. However, if you think that travel will solve your psychological issues, relationship problems, or career issues, you will be likely getting disappointed. So here is what you need to do about it:

  • Try to adjust your expectation for your trip. Travel can change your perspective but it won’t change into a totally different person, much less solve your problems. You can use a trip as a way to get clarity and peace to think. This may give you inspiration because you gain new perspective. As the result, you will see things differently and somehow find a solution. However, you will still need to work on it.
  • Instead of hoping your problems to be solved through a trip, it is much better to enjoy the experience to the max. There must be some other positive benefits of the travel you are going through such as more relaxed mind, recharged body, etc. Enjoying the trip at least will make you feel at ease at that time so you have a moment of clarity to think everything from better perspective.
  • Travelling cannot solve your problems but it can be your outlet for your pent-up frustration. It can be a way for you to get rid off of negative thoughts. By visiting beautiful places, you can suppress your emotional hazards. Staying at home makes you more frustrated in some ways so travelling can be a good way to stay out of bad thoughts and overthinking. You will focus more on enjoying the trip.

Instead of expecting a trip to solve your problems, you’d better try to understand the cause of the problems. Think about what the root of your problem is so you can find alternative to solve it instead of running away from it by travelling. If you still unable to solve your problems even after taking a fun and enjoyable trip, try to seek help from professional. Issues relating to psychology or relationship sometimes need professional counselling. As for financial issues, you can consider getting advice from finance strategist.
